Textured Dinky

Once i had drew and coloured all my views, expressions and dynamics i moved on to texturing them in photoshop. I didn't want to use too much texture as i liked the way character looked with quite soft colours. The texture i decided to go with was felt as it isn't a very heavy dark texture and fits in well with my character and the fact his costume could actually be made from this material.

Stepmother designs

This was a quick sketch of an idea i had for Dinky's stepmother who is described as an awful creature.

Eyes & Mouths

As part of the development for my character i drew a range of different shaped eyes some including eye lids for the kind of tired/dizzy look. I also included different shapes and sizes of pupils that could be used along with mouths of how they may look before and after an expression.

Dynamics

I wanted quite a range of dynamics for my character to go with his personality of being afraid all the time.

Props

I wanted my character to have a prop that was different but would also fit in with the carnival theme. I instantly thought of candy floss but i also wanted something that wasn't so obvious, i decided to go with a cat balloon as it could be seen as a friend to him.

Again i used illustrator to colour these up and by adding highlights to the balloon it gives it the look of being shiny and by adding them to the eyes it makes it look very cute.

Dinky

Dinky is a 15 year old boy who is far from normal. He is a shy child that is afraid of everything around him, he hides in his dinosaur costume that he refuses to take off. He is seen as a freak and an outcast.
